Plastering drywall is a tedious task that many people do not take seriously, but it really can be a pain in the butt if you don’t do it right. If your drywall is not properly prepared, it can be prone to water damage and can actually make your entire wall look horrible in the end. If you do it wrong, your home could look like a junkyard after a long storm has passed. So, how can you ensure that your drywall is properly prepared?
Drywall may look like it’s hard work when you are just plastering over it, but it is not. The first thing you should do is sand down your drywall. The reason this is important is because it can get very stubborn as you go along. After sanding it, you should then use a primer on it. You can either buy one or make your own.
Now you want to go over your drywall with a primer. Once you have done this, you should then put in a top coat of paint. Make sure that you use a top coat on it so that it doesn’t get stained. You will need to sand down your wall again before putting in the drywall. After that, you should sand it down again, then apply a second coat of paint. Make sure you allow it to dry overnight and then apply the third coat of paint.
